Ottawa, Canada - March 24, 2025: Marmota Solutions Inc., a Canadian pioneer in environmental asset creation and sustainable decarbonization, has achieved a critical milestone in the development of its North America EV Charging Carbon Offset Program (MEVCCOP). In December 2024, the program was successfully validated by Earthood Services Limited, an accredited third-party Validation/Verification Body (VVB), marking a significant step towards its registration under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. Registration is currently in the Technical Review phase with Verra, with registration expected in 2025.
The validation by Earthood confirms that MEVCCOP, developed using VM0038 methodology, meets the stringent requirements of Verra’s VCS Program—the world’s most widely recognized greenhouse gas crediting framework. This achievement underscores Marmota’s commitment to delivering a high-integrity carbon offset solution that accelerates electric mobility across the United States and Canada, excluding California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia to avoid double counting with regional LCFS programs.
“Achieving a successful validation by Earthood is a testament to the robustness and credibility of MEVCCOP,” ”, said Marmota CEO Brian Storseth. “Marmota is diligently working to complete the registration process for our EV Charging Carbon Offset Program.”
MEVCCOP enables ChargePoint Operators, Mobility Service Providers, Site Hosts, and OEMs to generate voluntary carbon credits from EV charging activities using a standardized, transparent process. Enrollment is free and accessible via app.marmota.ca, with participants able to earn 70-80% of net revenue from credit sales depending on the number of chargers enrolled. Applications are currently open in anticipation of the first vintage verification, credit issuance and sale later this year.
